Marina just reminded me that the “Puppy Love” video exists, so naturally I rewatched.
The plot: Jermaine Dupri allows Lil Bow Wow to house-sit for him with the stipulation that he not make a mess. Bow Wow immediately invites Solange (his girlfriend who’s achieved markedly more puberty landmarks than he has) over so they can eat cheese balls, look at CDs and cruise an indoor basketball court in a Power Wheels. Jagged Edge, who are featured on the track, are never invited inside — they harmonize politely from the front stoop and the back patio. The video ends with a trip to a diner and a hug goodnight.
I thought this was a video about Lil Bow Wow having a good time with his babysitter. Turns out they’re supposed to be dating. #themoreyouknow
